
Piotr Wójcik
Photojournalist, lecturer in photojournalism at the University of Warsaw’s Faculty of Journalism, Information and Bibliology, and co-founder, alongside Dominique Roynette, of the Picture Doc Foundation, which focuses on creating documentary projects and promoting photojournalism.
Between 1989 and 2001, I worked as a photojournalist for the daily newspaper “Gazeta Wyborcza”, where Dominique Roynette was the art director.
I served as head of the photography department from 2001 to 2011.
I am the author of numerous photo reports and long-term documentary projects, including: “Gypsies. Warsaw–Bucharest” (1996), “Bytom Karb” (2012), “Polish Freedoms” (2014), “Katowice 150 +1” (2015), “30/100_PL” (2019), “Justice” (2020), “To Fall Asleep Peacefully” (2024) and the latest visual and musical project, “Eight Years and More – The State of Affairs” (2025).
I have collaborated with renowned publishers and institutions. I am the recipient of numerous photography awards and distinctions, most recently the Grand Press Photo 2022.
