Warsaw, March–April 2023. A series of political and public events took place in Poland following the broadcast of a TVN investigative report examining allegations concerning Karol Wojtyła’s response to cases of sexual abuse involving clergy during the period when he served as Archbishop of Kraków. After the broadcast, members of the Law and Justice (PiS) party displayed portraits of Pope John Paul II during parliamentary proceedings, while an image of the pope was projected onto the façade of the Presidential Palace in Warsaw. In the following days, the National Papal March — a demonstration organized by Catholic and conservative groups — took place in the capital, with participants expressing support for the figure of the pope and opposition to the findings presented in the television report.
